1. there are 7 specific issues will affect choices of architecture:
– enterprise resource planning (ERP)
– initial and total cost of ownership (TCO)
– scalability
– web integration
– legacy system interface requirements
– system security
– processing options

2. the info system design must include provision for system management and support tools and concepts to monitor system performance, maintain system security, and deal with system interruption.

performance mgt : designed to collect info about system resources and activity levels. can monitor system usage, capacity and trends.

system security : first, provisions must be made to assign and monitor user IDs and passwords and access levels. second, the sys sec tools must handle virus protection and
detect any unauthorized access.

fault mgt, backup and disaster recovery : the best strategy is to prevent before they can affect the system. this includes monitoring the system for signs of trouble, logging all system failures, diagnosing the problems and apply corrective action. backup refers to copying data continuously. recovery involve restoring data and restarting the ssystem after failure or interruption.

file retention laws regulations apply to company data.
