Newt Global beat out strong competition from a Fortune 15 company to win the opportunity to build a DW/BI/DSS solution for a giant multinational client. The system is based on Open Source Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence technologies and will be used to detect healthcare claim fraud. The system will utilize proprietary fraud detection models and Open Source BI tools to produce regular and ad-hoc reports and graphical representations of the data to aid in the detection of fraud.
Newt Global is approaching this effort in two stages: The first stage is to implement a Data Warehouse in a scalable infrastructure and to build the ETL processes needed to maintain the data. The second stage is to leverage Open Source BI tools to analyze the data and represent the results in clearly readable graphs and reports.
Newt Global assembled an experienced team with expertise in the area of Healthcare, HIPAA security and Data Science to build the Decision Support System (DSS) using an Agile/Scrum methodology, a Test Driven Development approach and industry best practices for Quality Management.
The Newt Global team is designing and testing the system using proven fraud models to look for indicators such as high frequency utilization behaviors, geographic dispersion of participants and identification of anomalous practice patterns.
